eConsultation Update
The Joint Committee has now published its report, Considerations, Recommendations and Conclusions on the Joint Committee’s Consultation on the draft General Scheme of the Broadcasting Bill. You can view a copy of the report here.

The eConsultation Project
You can read the background to this public consultation project, which commenced on 6 September 2006, here. The project phases (submitting observations, webcast public hearings on selected themes, an internet discussion forum and the report of the Joint Committee) are described here.
Joint Committee's report was prepared taking account of the views you have expressed - in the observations you made on the Minister's proposals, at meetings of the Committee and in your contributions to the discussion forums.
In its public meetings, the Committee addressed itself to 12 themes (or focus areas) in particular. This website presents the various strands of information available to the Committee on each in a coherent, more accessible way. You can review all information available to the Committee in relation to each focus area by going here.
In the event that the proposals are presented as a Bill and referred to committee, it is envisaged that meetings will be webcast.

Evaluation of exercise; how you can help
As previously stated, the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas has commissioned a team of eConsultation researchers from NUI Maynooth, Queen's University Belfast and Letterkenny IT to independently evaluate this eConsultation exercise. As a registered user, you may be contacted by this team to assist them in the evaluation.
In the event that the academic study of the eConsultation pilot exercise is published, it will also appear on this website.
